Cheryl Goes Non-linear

Well after yesterday’s unrepentant deny everything scammer, the one this morning makes everything worthwhile. “She” had been working me for well over a week. She used the hit and run approach to make it seem as we were building a relationship when in fact it’s a way to avoid having to share too much information. So when I got this one to go completely off the wall it was gratifying. Nice to give them just a little touch of the feeling of being cheated that their victims feel all too often I’m afraid.

It was the usual MO, great looking mixed race woman, has a visa, really wants to be with me, and just needs my help with the airline ticket. I also had several people send me the same picture and I’m pretty sure the woman in it is Hawaiian not African. This is of course a really easy scam to scope out, just offer to give them exactly what they are asking for but in a different form. When she asked for help with the airline ticket, I agreed but in the form of a free ticket, all I needed was a scan of her passport and her visa and I’d process the ticket and send it off to her. Of course when you do that they’re stuck, you now seem like a cooperative mark, but you’re asking for something they can’t give you and you are offering something they can’t use.

This one had invested a lot of time with me, I didn’t keep all the conversations but it lasted over a week. They were so sure I was going to come through that I think they had already spent the money. When I told them from the start I knew they weren’t real they went ballistic. There was a great segue from I’m a Christian that can’t lie to a stream of profanity that would make a longshoreman blush.
